Who we are

Founded in 2001 by our director Matt Cole, we have grown from a small company focusing exclusively on saving businesses money through making smarter choices on their energy supplies, to what we are today – the Switching Group, helping businesses of all shapes and sizes save money across all of their essential overheads.

Having started off with a small customer base of around 50-60 single-site businesses in the West Midlands, we have continued to grow and evolve over time to now serve over 1,500 customers in and around 3,500 sites all across the UK.

​This growth was down to our flexibility and willingness to adapt to a changing marketplace. In order to stay relevant and ahead of the competition, we have widened our services and expanded into additional areas – mainly down to requests from our customers to find their savings in other areas!

Our Story

Garage Visionary: Switching Success
Our director Matt Cole created what is now Switching Group out of his garage with nothing but a notebook and a coffee table. Having spotted a niche for selling energy contracts to businesses in the market, he rapidly gained customers.
Limitless Growth Journey
As the business grew, we began to take on staff and made the decision to incorporate into a limited company. It was at this point where we seen the business grow exponentially.
Client Growth, Partner Success
As many years went by with the client base continuing to grow, so did the partnerships. We were able to expand into what we are now, a multi-service broker.
Expanding for Success
Switching Group's name began gaining traction which resulted in us managing to land some big projects from large pub chains to corporate companies. Due to this, we expanded into a larger office and took on more staff to keep our service levels high.
Crisis Sparks Transformation
Unfortunately, Covid-19 and lockdowns hit the business hard as many of our clients were pushed out of business. It was at this point that we decided to be a one-stop shop for all business overheads from Insurance to Merchant Services.
Expanding with Excellence
Surviving the Covid-19 outbreak was hard but we pushed through it and came out even greater on the other side. We now manage the most clients we ever have and continue to grow through recommendations from our amazing clients. We have an exciting plan ahead as we look to expand our partnerships to ensure customers receive the best service and products.
